Terracing & waterfall

Garden is surrounded by a steep slope, the aim of the project was to make the whole garden user friendly and low maintenance.

The step was to dig a trench 2ft deep and concrete in 4ft x 4in machined round poles to form the first terrace. Each pole was individually leveled and fixed to a 4 x 2 rail.

A new patio was laid using 40 sq. metres of cotswold paving consisting of 6 different sized slabs.

All the terracing is completed, as is the boundary fence. A waterfall will make a feature of this corner.

Mypex is laid on the terraces and held down with mypex staples. It was then covered with pine chippings. We used 16 m3 of pine chippings that were supplied by P.J Warren Haulage

A stair case was built in the back garden to allow easy access to the top terrace.

The reservoir of the water is built out of 3ft x 2ft concrete manhole section then a concrete rim on top for the rocks to sit on. Shelves were then dug into the bank ready for the rocks to sit on.

The cotswold lime rocks were laid on a 1:6 mortar bed with added water proofer. White cement was also used to match the rocks. The water fall is built onto a PVC liner to contain the water

The waterfall up and running, rocks have been placed on the left to form a dry waterfall, down the middle are some steps making maintenance to the working waterfall easier.

The new driveway and patio completed, the driveway is surfaced with crushed limestone on top of a 100mm thick sub base.
